Indonesia Builds Bread Factory in Gaza

VIVAnews - A humanitarian team from Indonesia is setting up a bread factory in Gaza, Palestine, aimed at helping Gaza people who lack food due to the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas.

Coordinator of Dompet Dhuafa Humanitarian Team, Sunaryo Adhiatmoko, stated that the bakery development requires Rp 1 billion (US$ 85,000).

His team helps provide the fund for developing the factory using relief fund that Indonesians donate to 'Dompet Dhuafa'.

"The financing is agreed after
the situation is mapped and receiving inputs from the public, ulamas and important figures. One of them suggested that we build a bread factory because it is urgent," said Adhiatmoko through telephone from Jabaliya, North Gaza, on Tuesday, Feb 3.

Adhiatmoko said that Israeli aggression has further degraded the standard of living of disadvantaged people. The Israeli attacks have also destroyed a bread factory in Gaza, an important source of food there.

'Dompet Dhuafa' is teaming up with Islamic Society based in Jabaliya Nazla City, a local organization that will implement the program.

The agreement was signed today. "The bread factory should be completed and fully operational in one month," said Adhiatmoko.
